On March 5, 2024, a delegation from LUT University in Finland visited Duke University to discuss research and education collaborations.
The Office of Global Affairs arranged a meeting with the 13 representatives from LUT University with Russ Morgan, Associate Professor of the Practice of Marketing at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, and Jerome Lynch, Dean of the Pratt School of Engineering. Discussions centered on potential joint research projects and educational initiatives, particularly in areas of technology, business and engineering.

“We had a wonderful visit with the team from LUT University who brought such positive energy to Duke,” said Katherine Black, International Programs Manager for the Office of Global Affairs. “The meeting really seemed to be a nice cultivator of conversation and potential collaboration.”
This visit comes at a time when Finnish companies like ABB, Valmet and Kempower, all research partners of LUT, are establishing themselves in North Carolina. LUT University sees this as a natural fit to seek out collaboration with universities in the area. Additionally, Finland’s recent accession to NATO is expected to open doors for further partnerships between the two countries.
