About Us

Duke Global provides leadership and strategic direction for the university’s global academic activities and partnerships, while supporting faculty, staff and students engaged in international research, education and outreach.

Duke Global was launched by Provost Alec D. Gallimore in 2025 and is based in the Provost’s Office. Its Global Program Support (GPS) unit helps faculty, staff, and students navigate critical support services across the university, while its Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation team supports and shapes strategic global partnerships in collaboration with faculty leadership and university stakeholders.

Duke’s framework for global engagement is guided by the university’s Global Strategy, developed by the faculty-led Global Priorities Committee (GPC) and the Office of the Provost. The GPC advises the Provost on strategy, development and oversight of global engagement and priorities and provides faculty leadership for the regular assessment of global programs, new proposals and administrative support.

Duke’s global leadership is rooted in a long history of innovative international engagement and the university’s enduring commitments to interdisciplinary collaboration, experiential learning, and open inquiry and dialogue. Guided by an experienced team of global experts, Duke Global strengthens partnerships around the world, connects people and ideas across disciplines and regions, and empowers the Duke community to address the most pressing global challenges.
