International Students Enrich Class of 2028
Duke welcomes another globally diverse cohort

This August, Duke University welcomes the Class of 2028 including 206 international students representing 86 different countries, highlighting Duke’s global diversity. The top five countries represented by incoming students are the United Kingdom, China, Canada, South Korea and India.
“The beginning of the academic year is always an exciting time at Duke,” said Kevin D’Arco, Senior Associate Dean of International Students. “We’re thrilled to welcome students from around the world to the international Blue Devil community. We recognize the unique challenge students face when moving to a new country and university setting, so much of our attention is focused on easing that transition.”
Once international students are moved in and settled, the Duke International Student Center (DISC) provides year-round support and engagement opportunities for international undergraduate and graduate students. The center offers programming and ensures that international students have a safe space to call their own, all while creating a common community at Duke.
“Once the academic year starts, DISC’s focus shifts focus on advocacy, advising and community building,” said D’Arco. As a team, DISC staff encourages students to engage with our programs to explore new ideas and connect with one another”
