Award Reception Recognizes AVP Amanda Kelso

A small reception was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, to honor Amanda Kelso, Ed.D., for receiving the 2023 Duke Global Service Award. The award, which is presented by the Office of Global Affairs, recognizes faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to the university or the global community through international research, teaching, scholarship and service.

Amanda Kelso is the Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Executive Director of the Global Education Office for Undergraduates. She has been a driving force behind Duke’s global education initiatives and has helped to create a more globally engaged campus community; she also is a leader in international education beyond Duke, holding leadership positions in various professional organization.

In her remarks, AVP Kelso noted that she was honored to receive the award. Thanking her colleagues and mentors for their support, Kelso said she was committed to continuing to make Duke a more global university.

The reception was attended by faculty, staff and close friends of AVP Kelso’s. For her efforts, OGA provided her with a framed certificate.

“The Duke Global Service Award is a fitting recognition for Amanda Kelso’s dedication to international education,” said Eve Duffy, Associate Vice Provost for Global Affairs. “She is a true champion of global learning, and her work has had a positive impact on countless students and faculty members.”
