Duke-Exeter Collaboration Grants

Upcoming Duke University of Exeter Collaborative Research Funding Opportunity

To advance Duke’s global strategy and strengthen international academic partnerships, Duke Global is pleased to announce an upcoming joint funding opportunity with the University of Exeter (UK). Building on more than seven years of successful collaboration, the next round of Duke-Exeter collaborative research grants will open in September 2026.

This fund is designed to support faculty-led partnerships that pursue innovative research with the potential for meaningful global impact. As strategic partners, Duke and Exeter share a commitment to addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges and seek projects that contribute to a greener, fairer, and healthier future. We are particularly interested in proposals that engage additional institutional partners, foster international research networks, and strengthen collaborations involving organizations and scholars in the Global South.

The grants are intended to serve as catalytic investments providing early-stage support to help promising collaborations launch, grow, and position themselves for sustained external funding and long-term impact.

The funding call is expected to open on September 1, 2026, with proposals due by October 16, 2026

Two funding tracks will be available:

  • Initiator Grants: up to $7,500 to support new collaborations and exploratory activities.
  • Accelerator Grants: up to $15,000 to advance established partnerships toward larger research initiatives and external funding opportunities.

Full application guidelines and eligibility details will be available when the call opens.
