What is Duke at Home in the World?

A month-long series of events that:

  • Encourages the Duke community to engage with global topics
  • Offers opportunities for global learning across campus
  • Highlights Duke’s international work
  • Facilitates conversation about issues that affect communities locally and globally

When does Duke at Home in the World take place?

November 1 through November 30, 2018.

Who can host events during Duke at Home in the World?

Anyone can host an event as part of Duke at Home in the World. All Duke schools, institutes, departments, offices and organizations are invited to submit events with global themes.

What kinds of events are included?

Anything with a global focus can be part of Duke at Home in the World. Performances, panel discussions, cultural activities, lectures and networking events all help facilitate conversation about global themes on campus. Events might be created specifically for this series, but you are also welcome to include events that are already planned for this time period.

How do we propose an event?

Fill out a submission form by September 30, 2018 to be included.

What kind of support will you provide to event hosts?

The Office of Global Affairs will help you promote your events on global.duke.edu and other Duke channels as part of Duke at Home in the World. OGA will consider funding requests to bring in outside speakers. OGA will also consider funding requests from student organizations that would like to participate.

Who can we contact with questions?

You can reach Colette Watt, program coordinator for OGA, at cn42@duke.edu.
