More than 150 Duke faculty members work with partners on the African continent for research, teaching, and innovation.
Topics of interest include global health, conservation and racial justice.
Some key initiatives are:
- The Duke Lemur Center, which houses the largest collection of lemurs outside Madagascar. The DLC is a hub for conservation research.
- The Duke Global Health Institute, which partners with hospitals and clinics across the continent.
- The Africa Initiative, which hosts Africa-related events on campus.
- The Menell Media Exchange, an annual conference and ongoing programs committed to developing and supporting an inclusive, collaborative, robust and sustainable media community in South Africa and beyond.
